Weekend in Benidorm day 2

Saturday dawned fine and sunny so after breakfast we waited in a queue of highly voluble Spanish pensioners for the bus tour of Benidorm with commentary. We fought for a place and managed to keep our English cool and find a seat.
Apparently Benidorm is home to Spain's tallest building and hotel with the greatest number of rooms but its quite far away from the action,

After the tour we walked along the beach front away from town and found more bars and cafes and a group doing their morning exercise!

The lovely sunshine and the walk meant we needed a coffee then after the walk back we found the Jarrow Lad and stayed sitting in the sun with a beer watching the world go by.

Then we headed off by taxi to the new town and after a bit of shopping in the market had a pleasant lunch with another beer sitting in the sun, We took our time along the beach front, stopping for ice cream on the way. The incredible sunshine lasted until well after 5 as we made our way back to the hotel.

By the time we had a reviving bath and knowing we had an early start the next morning we just stayed in the hotel for our meal and a final drink. Adios Benidorm!

Weekend in Benidorm Day 1

We left home before 5 Friday morning for 7 o'clock flight to Benidorm for a 2 night break. It's a place I never thought that I would visit as high rise blocks by the sea don't appeal but I've been promised an entertaining weekend of bars and tapas.

After an uneventful journey we arrived at our "3 star" hotel and found a distinctly not 3 star room, basic is an exaggeration but hey ho it's only a place to lay our weary bones after a night on the tiles.  The location, however, is ideal right on the sea front alongside the old town so we've strolled and eaten and strolled and drunk hot chocolate in settings familiar from the t v series. Let's see if this evening's entertainment lives up to expectation?

Tapas street bars too quiet at 7 o'clock but had a very good Sangria in the Irish bar before a beer on the roadside outside the hotel then back to the hotel for dinner. The long day and mixture of drinks caught up with us and we retired for the night,
